Relocation of the MITRE Mailbridge to Andrews AFB
1. Now that the mailbridge at PSN 246 and CISCO IPR at Ft Detrick are
operational, DISA is relocating the mailbridge at PSN 17 to Andrews
AFB, PSN 67. The new mailbridge address is 26.1.0.67. It should become
effective on 22/Feb/92 during the early afternoon. All gateways or
hosts using 26.20.0.17 as their primary or secondary mailbridge, i.e.,
source of external gateway protocol (EGP) updates, should convert to
the 26.1.0.67 mailbridge.
2. This does not affect the NSFNET gateway addresses. The FIX-East gateway
into NSFNET remains 26.29.0.54. The FIX-West NSFNET gateway remains
26.20.0.16. Any gateways or hosts using a default route for FIX-EAST
should already be using 26.29.0.54.
3. All gateways and hosts converting to 26.1.0.67 should verify proper
operations on Monday, 24/Feb/92. If DISA has installation problems,
we will announce that ASAP. However, all gateways and hosts using the
new address should be prepared to use their secondary mailbridge if
required.
4. MAILBRIDGES provide either full updates or limited updates. Currently,
full updates are provided by the following:
BMILAMES (26.20.0.16)
BMILMITR (26.20.0.17) and
BMILRAND (26.1.0.51)
The following mailbridges provide limited updates:
BMILRICH (26.3.0.246)
BMILISI (26.6.0.103)
BMILDCEC (26.21.0.104)
BMILOAK (26.1.0.148)
As soon as it is operational, BMILANDW (26.1.0.67) will provide full
updates.
Gateway or host administrators who are uncertain whether their systems
should receive full or limited updates should contact the CONUS MILNET
Monitoring center at the number(s) given in paragraph 5 for assistance.
4. DISA POC is Ted A. Tatchio, DDN MILNET Manager, DSN 222-7580, commercial
(703)692-7580, e-mail address: milnetmgr@ddn-conus.ddn.mil. Host and
gateway administrators experiencing problems with the new address
(26.1.0.67) should initially contact the CONUS Monitoring Center,
commercial 1-800-451-7413, or DSN 222-2268, or DSN 222-5726. All other
questions or comments should be directed to Maj. Tatchio.
